Who is ready for 2019?
Geez, what a turdhunt! What a messed up year it was. For me, 2018 was pretty good, I was happy, right up until November hit, then it went downhill real fast. A bad relationship break up where I got royally cornholed, a friend of mine hung himself (R.I.P Eric), parents in failing health, my beloved yorkie's health is declining, and work has been driving me to the point of collapse. Plus, they have not been very appreciative of my substantial efforts. I haven't had time for hardly anything. Work and playing music is my life now. It's okay though, work saved me from my mind being on that hideous breakup, and playing loud, aggressive music channeled my anger and frustration perfectly. You non-musicians have no idea how much that helps! OMG. I almost snapped my guitar neck in half! Aye aye ayeee!
So yeah, the ass end of 2018 sucked ass! But now, I see light at the end of one long dark tunnel. I had to be strong to pull myself together and realize my own worth. I actually met someone that don't get on my nerves. How is that freaking possible? She is a trip all right. What I call a beautiful disaster. A super-sweet sensitive, attractive, caring woman with a temper, and a bit of a jealous side. It's okay though, I am a jealous mofo too. In this day and age, it's almost impossible to be in a relationship, and not be! You got Facebook, where dudes are constantly hitting on your girl, even when it clearly says “In A Relationship”, pervs sending d**k pics n' such (even I have never done that! And I'm packing!), dating websites that are lame AF, and eternal texting going on — that you probably do not want to even know the conversations going on (trust me, I know this one allllll too well)! Dating nowadays, it's a mess.
What are ya gonna do though? Be alone and not try? Naaaaahhhhh. I'm not a motherf**ker that gives up on shit! In fact, I'll put up the fight of my life for what I believe in. Till the end.
And I believe IT CAN HAPPEN. Even to a jaded-ass mofo like me. But I'm going to take it slow n' easy with this new she-panther, and make sure this is the real deal before I commit to anything. I'm not into wasting time now, mine or hers. But she is definitely an awesome chick and I love spending time with her. She has cheered me up bigtime. So thaaat's good! Boy, did I ever need it. Baaaaby steps.
Who knows, maybe it is good karma finally coming my way.
And another positive thing has happened to me as well. I have worked extra hard these last three years and saved and saved, and I decided to buy a badass ride. I bought a Dodge Challenger. It's a mean looking MF and I freaking love it. With all the heartache I've been through these last few months, I needed a feel-good. A reward for successfully turning into a better person, and for working my tail off. It's already awesome looking, but I'll be pimping it out even more starting immediately. It did make me a little happier. Bring on summer!
So I've been getting out a lil' bit from time to time. I reviewed the brand-new U2 tribute Joshua Sky at the Merc, and it was badass (See review below), and I went out to catch cover bands Hidden Foundation and 3XO (See Review below), and went and saw A Forgotten Fury (they killed!) and the mighty Luther at Diamond Pub Concert Hall, and had a good time all three nights. I went to the Spaghetti Factory and that Sicillian place by the Merc a few times, too. That place is soooo good! A show and some good grub. Just my kinda night.
I have some badass national shows listed below that sound great! Ozzy and Iron Maiden at Riverbend sound amazing. I'll hafta plug the hell outta those to get my media access! Soulfly in Covington, the Iron Maidens at the Merc, Kiss at the Yum, In Flames at the Merc, there's quite a few things going on that I'd like to catch! Music IS life, to me anyways!
And in a very short time my Southern metal band Krosjoint will be ready to play out! We are sooo close, it's not even funny. This shit is gonna be killing, too! We are excited. We can't wait to bring the groove and soul back to Louisville metal.
My column is kinda short this month, not too much going on scenewise, but it's like this every year this time in the ville. That’s just the way it is.
New Years Eve is Tomorrow night. I think I will just sit at home, watch movies, play guitar, and consume a few rare alcoholic beverages. I'm not big into huge crowds at the moment. Peace and no drama is the key to healing! But to all of you, fans and haters, friend or foe, enemy or lover — Have One Great Year in 2019! Don't drive drunk! BE SAFE!!!

Eddy loves you!
P.S come see me play Saturday January 26 at The Art Sanctuary! I'll be opening for the Alice Cooper Tribute Sick Little Things! Those guys are putting on a benefit for the homeless, so please support people in need! The Art Sanctuary is a badass new venue not many know about, so come see what I'm talking about! This is the rescheduled benefit, as the first one was canceled due to illness. Please support!

New U2 Tribute — Joshua Sky Review (Pics by Craig Schneider and Video by yours truly!):
Wow. This was a great set by a brand spanking new tribute band. I should have known that Fire Department/Dark Side Of The Wall guitarist Allen Needham would kill it. It's a tall order though, mimicking such an awesomely talented and different world-renowned band, and I was wondering how Allen and the guys would fare, with this being their first show and all. They did not fail to impress. The vocals of Aaron Crane were on point, and sounded just like Bono. It was uncanny for real. You couldn't ask for a better frontman for this project. If you were to play an audio recording of their set, I'm thinking 99 out of a 100 people would probably think it was actually U2. Allen Needham is ridiculous on guitar! Recreating the Edge on guitar is no easy feat. As a guitarist who has opened for many nationals, even I wouldn't even attempt it. But we are talking about Louisville legend Allen Needham here! He walked through that shit like it was nothing! The Edge has one different and cool guitar sound/tone going on, but Allen totally nailed it, crazy delays and effects, tonewise and everything. It sounded GREAT! Yes, I'm a metalhead by heart, but the fact is — I love all kinds of music and U2 has always has been a band I liked and admired, so there was no way I was going to miss seeing this new U2 tribute's first gig! Aye aye aye!
Jordan Smith's drums and Frank Partipilo's bass playing was excellent as well, and keyboardist Steve Katsikas had the goods. Well done, fellas. The band played “Sunday Bloody Sunday,” “New Years Day,” ( I think the keys coulda been louder on that one though, I was straining to hear the haunting keys part in the beginning. Turn that shit up on that song next time, guys! The keys are vital to that song!), “Where The Streets Have No Name,” “with Or Without you,” “I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking for,” “Mysterious Ways,” “In The Name Of Love,” “One” and they ended the night with “Vertigo.”I watched the whole set and wanted more! Wow! What a great start to this project. I will definitely go see them again, although I don't see how they can improve much more. I've been reviewing bands for a long long time in this city and these guys are badass musicians! When is the next show? I'm down.

Now this should be funny! A musical comedy act for sure! Another show I will have to try to make! This clip describes how I felt at the beginning of November.
Metallica in March!
Saturday, March 9 at the KFC YUM! CENTER. This should be one interesting show. The last time they played there, I was there, and it was kinda boring for real. But since then, they have had a hot charge blown up their asses, and seemed to have returned to heavier roots a little. I saw Metallica in 1986 open for Ozzy outdoors in Cardinal Stadium on the Master Of Puppets Tour! Metallica was getting booed bigtime by the Ozzy fans. People weren't ready for that kind of shredding just yet. Little did they know, how big that band would become! I actually got to see Cliff Burton play! A few months after that show and he was gone forever. Sad. Hopefully the venue will hook me up this time. Last time I had to go alone, which sucks ass. I'd rather stay home than go review a show alone. What fun is there in that? Anyways, wish me luck!
In Flames Coming to The Merc February 20:
Loud brutal music. Sounds like fun!
Iron Maiden to play Riverbend on August 15, 2019:
This sounds too good to be true. I'll definitely go to this one. It's on! I always loved seeing shows there too. Never a bad time! Get those tickets, this will sell out!
Ozzy coming to Riverbend on June 6:
This promises to be a rockin' good time! Hope to see you there.
Metallica Tribute, The Four Horsemen at The Merc on Friday January 18:
Love Metallica, but don't have a ton of cash to pay them in March? Then this is your alternative. I heard they jam too! Check it out.
RESCHEDULED — The Alice Cooper Tribute “Sick Little Things” w/ Year Of The Gun and Cyclops Shaman, to Hold Benefit for the Homeless at Wayside Mission-Sat January 26 at The Art Sanctuary:
The Xmas show was canceled due to the Cooper tribute singer having strep throat, but now please support Sick Little Things — the Alice Cooper Tribute band, as they are holding the rescheduled Benefit for the Homeless at Wayside Mission, on Saturday, January 26 at The Art Sanctuary. All proceeds go to the poor. They have a helluva lineup for you folks, so be there early to support Year Of the Gun and Cyclops Shaman. This is like Rock For Kosair! I hope to see you people out at this one! You people really need to see this new venue anyways! It's righteous! Big ass stage too! Mucho potential here, an no one even really knows about it yet! You heard it from me first, mofo's. They got some cool and crazy art there too! It's neat.

Those famous partiers are back for one night only, so if you are a fan, don't miss it.
Van Halen/Bon Jovi Tribute Night at The Merc on March 15:
Bon Jovi is lame, but I like Van Halen!
Experience Jimi Hendrix's music at Louisville Palace on March 19:
No it's not Hendrix, but it should be good anyways! The palace don't mess around with chumps!

Stolen Guitar Alert!!!
Be on the lookout for a maroon Schecter C1 FR that was stolen from Brewskee's on Saturday December 30. It belongs to my good friend Phil Morris and we intend to find the bastard who did it and make him pay like a MF! Little did the thief know that he stole from a guy much loved in this scene! Bad mistake! The Louisville music scene don't play with thieves, and we are uniting to find this guitar. Phil is a helluva dude, and we will not allow this to go unpunished! It's WAR!! Brewskee's should be doing everything in their power to fix this though. If they don't, there will be hell to pay. Contact 502-609-1696 if you have any info for us. There are two pictures of it in the slideshow. It's the guy with the long brown hair with the maroon guitar! Please help hs.
