News From the Pit
How's this heat for ya? The last week has been miserable AF. Working in this crap is like doing construction work in a freaking sauna. The sweat was pouring off of me soooo much, I could barely even see. Oh well, I wanted to lose more weight. I guess I am getting my wish. That shit just saps the strength right out of you though, especially when you gotta work overtime. You gotta look on the bright side, sometimes, I reckon. It's extra cash for my upcoming vacation though!
This month will be kinda short. I'm exhausted and I haven't really covered much recently. There hasn't really been anything I've wanted to see that much, except the Crazy Train reunion, which fell at a really bad time for me, and I was unable to go. It sounded like a great show though, and I wish I could have made it to support my longtime friends. I feel bad I didn't go. I heard about 175 people made it out to the show though, and for today's day and age, that's pretty darn good! I did get to make it out to see the Poetry Of The Dead show w/ E-Town shredders Lethean at the Paddock Pub right by my house. Yes, I was tired and sore, but I wanted to make an appearance and show the love for my original-music-playing friends. I took a bunch of pics of various peeps in the scene that I love.
Louie the local guy got married recently, so congrats to him and his lovely wife Stephanie. I added a wedding pic of those two as well. It was a fun show. Lethean was killin' it and Poetry was in fine form as they smashed their way through an entertaining set. I'm glad I got my old lame ass out of the house for some local jams. I had a good time and actually drank some alcohol! I rarely drink anymore (maybe 5 beers every two months) so I had a bit of a lovely buzz when I got home. I am the world's lamest non-partying rocker!
Festivals like Kyles-A-Dick Fest and Metalfest, and the truly big shows are right around the corner, and I am excited about Louder Than Life and it's new location, and how they will have it set up. I have covered/photographed LTL from the beginning and I hope this works out well for everyone. I always have the best time there.
You also have some great shows only a hop and a skip away in places like Riverbend in Cincinatti. It's a great venue and they have always treat Louisville music news and myself like gold! Thanks for the love.
I'm also am excited AF to be debuting the new Krosjoint (my Southern metal band) on July 6 at the 21st Amendment Tavern. We go on at 9 p.m. sharp, so do not be late! This will be the first time I've played MY heavy stuff in a good while, so I hope to see you folks out there to support! I'm ready to kill!
I have been pretty happy lately, I'm dating a beautiful girl who's crazy about me, got a new badass car, both of my bands are killing, money in the bank, vacation coming up, everything is going great — except for some unmoral horseshit at one of my jobs that will more than likely be talked about in next month's issue unless resolved.
Racism is beyond rampant to the point of ridiculousness at this place of employment, and I have decided to fight it with all of my being even at the risk of being unjustifiable FIRED. Good American people have been mistreated by a racist person that unjustly and immorally hurts peoples lives, livelihoods, security, families means of supporting themselves, and that will not be tolerated even if I have to fight to the death to make things right. The bosses are covering all this up and protecting this POS, but there will be no covering this particular dirt pile up now. So if I have to go to WAR again, so be it. You people know me, and my iron will, and about my unwavering honesty, and all the good things I have done for this city. If this goes south, I will be calling upon you to join me in my in this crusade against Racism In The Workplace. I will organize a Racism Awareness event just for this if it comes to it. You peeps know I could do it with ease! My shows were legendary. However, I will be trying to work this out peacefully one more time, in the hopes the TRUE people in charge will come to their senses before it is too late. I trust you people. And I know you people have my back. You have always had my back and I love you for it. Together we will show these crooked people that you cannot screw over good Americans for decades without severe consequences. This racist unknowingly picked on the absolute worst choice of American in their company's history, and do not even know it! Ha! They will soon know it though, I promise that. If they foolishly choose that crooked no-win path, for I have done my homework tenfold and then some, and I shall retaliate with full force to every corner of their universe. I know exactly where to strike and where it will hurt the most. If they should choose the wrong path I will strike with Mike Tyson fury and Muhammad Ali accuracy! I am an intelligent and good man who will not be screwed over. You people know me, that I am the easiest going, most laid-back friendly guy you could ever meet, but if you screw me over, and push me too far, you are in for a reality check. For I will straight up f**k you up! I am known for that. Many times over. Never ever take kindness for weakness! Doing what I do in this town, I have had many many public battles, going up against against weasels, liars, heroin dealers, thieves, haters, thugs, crooked bastards by the carload, and I have never ever lost, or been proven wrong! Ever. And this my friends, will be the most important battle I have ever faced, if it comes to war. I will be fighting for myself AND a incalculable number of Americans who have lost their jobs/livlihoods wrongfully over many years because of this person who loves and finds it amusing to target Americans. People there are beyond sick of this person and are behind me 100%. They want this as bad as I do.
With all this being said, I can honestly say that it is my deepest hopes and desires that things can be worked out, and justice will be served, and that the true folks in charge who I no doubt think have little, to no idea what this racist a-hole has been doing all these years, will finally wise up and do the right thing and get someone in there who treats all employees EQUALLY! Hopefully I will get to keep my job that I have worked sooo hard for for two-and-a-half years, and make things better for everybody of all races.
The band FLAW, with whom I have jammed out and done shows with since 1997, has a song that is very much against racism, whose powerful song title sends out the message that will always ring true "We All Bleed Red." Thank you Flaw.
Wish me luck, people. I'm going against some truly unethical and vindictive people. And I will be risking my job, and my finances, to stick up for us Americans, and our right to live, work, prosper, and be happy.
I love you all.
P.S.
Oh yeah! I have a cute little story for ya I almost forgot to tell. I was having band practice a few weeks ago when a little boy comes knocking on my door. The little guy of about 10 years old was bawling his eyes out that someone had stolen his bike and he wanted to know if I would look on my security cameras to see who stole it, because my cameras partially covered his house across the alley as well. So my bandmembers and I look on my cameras, and sure enough, some crackhead POS was walking by and snagged the little kid's bike! So we showed the video to the kids mom and she went out and found that MF! But the bastard had already sold the kids bike! He ended up giving the mother some money, but I'm sure it wasn't near enough to cover the cost of a new bike. I posted all this on Facebook, and sure enough, my awesome friends came to the rescue as always!
My longtime buddy Randy Fullen is a giant of a man with a giant heart to match his size, and he donated a new bike his son never used! You should have seen the look on the mothers face when I took that bike over there for that little boy! The little guy wasn't there when I took the bike over, but I saw him the next day and he came over and thanked me for getting him the bike. Such a well-mannered nice young man. The family was African American, and you know what? I wouldn't have given a shit if they were North Korean or Iranian. It was the right thing to do, regardless of race, ethnicity or any of that bullshit that divides people. It made me feel sooo good to do something like that. And if my band-members would have caught that crackhead, he would have been in serious trouble, and probably would have went to the hospital. My cameras have also caught another thief and actually sent him to prison a year or so ago. My cameras exposed and stopped a whole burglary ring in my neighborhood. And you all remember me going against that heroin-dealing thug that was living next door several years back. I sent that violent MF packing, too. I don't play with that shit. I put my life in serious danger against the most vicious thug in this area because no one else would, to make my neighborhood a safer place for all. Old folks were thanking me and calling me brave.
Yes, I love to fight against lowlife pieces of shit, because when I win, I bask in the victory and the fact that I did the right thing, no matter what.
I am very proud of that.

This upcoming battle Against Racism In The Workplace is no different. Bring it on!!!
The Metal Grapevine
Louder Than Life 2019:
The dates are Friday September 27 through Sunday September 29 and the brand-new venue is the Highlands Festival Grounds at the Kentucky Expo Center Park. It is much closer to me and getting out of there after the show will be so much easier now. So it kinda evens out a little!
I will see you freaks there!

Mac Sabbath returns on August 4 at Zanzabar:
"I Am Frying Pan!!" Dudes dressed as McDonalds characters playing Black Sabbath music? Sure, count me in. I reviewed them at Headliners a few years back and it was cool. You might wanna check this out if you haven't yet! Both Mac Sabbath and Okilly Dokilly the supporting band are good!
Kyle's A Dick Fest coming to Madison Aug 8-11:
This has become a legendary outdoor concert/festival/party and I will be playing with both of my bands at this event. I can't wait. It's gonna be fun. I've always wanted to play Madison. A bunch of great bands, music, food, partying, it should be interesting. Address is 2355 N. K Road, Madison, Indiana 47250-8400. Bands have not been announced yet, but I'll definitely have them by August issue, I hope!
Vince Neil/Kix coming to the Kentucky State Fair on August 24:
That promises to be a fun 80's reunion show. If I'm in town, I will probably go. I will fix up my hair, get all gussied up rocker style and go out for some fair food and a few whiskeys, I reckon. Sounds like a plan. So be ready to buy me drinks!
Black Stone Cherry at Kentucky State Fair on Sat August 17:
Show the love for our homegrown Kentucky boys. Be there!!!
Sebastian Bach's Skid Row LP 30th Anniversary Tour stops in Lexington September 22:
I saw Bach at Trixie's last year and it was badass! This should be good, because his band kills! I wish it wasn't a Sunday, but I might try to make this one anyways. It's at Manchester Music Hall in Lexington.
Megadeth's Dave Mustaine has Throat Cancer:
Good news is, they caught it early and there is a 75% to 90% chance they can cure him. He seems very confident that he can whip this. And I think he can. Dude has always had the utmost confidence in everything he does. One of the coolest things I did in radio was to bring on Megadeth at the Thunderdome way back in the late 90's. Me and Black Frank! Talk about a rush! Get well soon Dave, and keep on shredding that guitar! He is amazing.
Zakk Sabbath coming to The Mercury on August 18:
I'm not a fan of Zakk Wylde's vocals, but he does Sabbath pretty darn well, I must say. I really enjoyed seeing them at Louder Than Life. So you might wanna see this! It rocks!
Bourbon And Beyond 2019:
This sounds like a fun time too. Can my poor body endure two weeks of this is the question? I hope so.
Friday, September 20 is The Foo Fighters, John Fogerty, The Flaming Lips, Joan Jett, Blackberry Smoke, Live and more.
Saturday, September 21 is Robert Plant, Daryl Hall and John Oates, Alison Krauss, Squeeze and more.
Sunday, September 22 is ZZ Top, Zac Brown Band and more.
Iron Maiden to play Riverbend on August 15, 2019:
This sounds too good to be true. I'll definitely go to this one. It's on! I always loved seeing shows there too. Never a bad time! Get those tickets, this will sell out!
Tesla Coming to The Palace September 6:
I saw these guys last time they were here, and it was killer! Be sure to see this if you like the band. Great musicians and real cool guys! I did a phone interview with them and they were very humble folks.
Korn and Alice In Chains at Riverbend on August 18:
This sounds fun! I may not be in town though. You mofos can be there, though! Do it! Underoath and Fever 333 will be opening.
Motley Crue "Dirt" Tour coming September 4 at the Yum:
Yes, they lied. They did not retire. That whole Dirt movie thing got the cash flowing again, and built up interest bigtime. Smart. Those guys are cashing in on that flick! They are coming to town with Machine Gun Kelly, the rapper anmd actor who starred as Tommy lee in the movie. Rap and Motley Crue? Aye aye ayeee. I dunno about all that, but we'll see how it goes.
Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson at Riverbend on July 13:
Yup, this should not be a boring show. I just reviewed Zombie at the Palace and it was sick! Badass! I'd go to this, but knowing my luck, that weirdo Manson would have his gorilla manservants forceably pull me from the photopit so he could forceably try to give me oral sex! Dawg ain't right. But I wish that all of you to have a really good time. Riverbend rocks! I have never had a bad time there, and they always treat me like gold! Here is some oldschool Rob from way back in 95.
Corrosion Of Conformity coming to The Merc on July 31:
The kings of Stoner groove metal are coming to Louevil on July 31 with Crowbar. This should be a major sludgefest. Locals Luther or Krosjoint would be perfect for this gig! Hint hint!
Alice Cooper coming to Riverbend July 23:
Don't miss the king of shock rock when he invades Riverbend with special guest Halestorm. The last time I saw him he sounded better than ever! And you get to see the hot Nita Strauss on guitar too! A win win!
Breeaking Benjamin coming to Riverbend August 7:
Fellas, this should be a babe-fest!! You might wanna attend if single. Aye aye ayeeee.
Dane Cook and Kevin James coming to Louisville Palace on September 20 and 28:
I like both these guys. Dane will be there on Sept 20, and Kevin will be there on Sept 28! Have fun! I might have to check these out!
Kiss' Gene Simmons to Open Kisspensary, which will feature an exclusive KISS brand Strain of Marijuana:
Gene is opening the Kiss-themed dispensary on July 4 in Los Angeles. The store will sell Kiss Kush, Kiss bongs, Kiss rolling papers, Kiss grinders, and will be giving away FREE Peter Criss Coffee Mugs and a copy of Carnival Of Souls with every qualifying purchase. Gene is one smart man. This will be huge.
LA GUNS coming to Bourbon Hall July 17:
Don't miss these guys, I opened for them two years ago and it was a blast. Great band. Legends! And that Tracii Guns! What a great guitarist. Locals Wyld Ryde will be opening so be early.
Former Guns N' Roses Drummer Stephen Adler attempts suicide:
Yeah, he tried to do himself in. He has had many addiction problems over the years, and I guess it became too much for him. He played drums on one of the most classic albums of my childhood, Appetite For Destruction, an album I loved, so truly I hope he gets some help and realizes that life is worth living, and no drug or addiction is worth taking your own life.
Cannastock 2019 Coming!
Cannastock is back and it'll be camping, music, and weed, for those who love that kinda stuff! Cannastock is a music and cannabis awareness festival held in Central to Eastern Kentucky every year. I played two of them. One was great, but the other was kind of a mess because of the location. I hope this year they got things worked out again, because my band is playing again. It's the first week in August in Hustonville KY. More info to come SOON!
This Month's Musician Of The Month is drummer Trey Bledsoe of Crazy Train:
Be sure to read this up and coming guitarist's story!
Metalfest 8 - the Jeremy Wade Noe Cancer fighting Weekend coming on August 23-25:
It's at the same place. Catfish Haven Pay Lake on 7208 Whipple Road in Louisville 40272. tons of live metal music, booze, pretty scenery, and lots o' friends. Again. No bands listed, so I don't know who is playing yet. I'll keep you informed as best I can.
Volcandra Video:
Check out this sweet new metal band in Louisville. Good stuff!
