Frank Campbell

Name: Frank Campbell.

Age: 55, Damn I didn't feel old until I had to see that!!.

Instrument: Mainly guitar but I fancy myself a bass player. Pfunk is my alter ego and I talk about myself in the third person!!.

Band/Former Bands: I've been blessed to have played with some great musicians. My first bar band was King's Ransom. Man I was so green. That morphed in to Holy Terror for covers then morphed into Psycho Soul and my first stab at originals. Then it was on to two more cover bands. The Supernauts and The Release. Back to three original bands Soul Parade, SlakJaw and Secondhand Grenade,. Finally something recent that many might remember. Scary Uncle. We have a reunion show coming up September 12th if Andy lets us have it. And finally my current band. Wicked Sensation. A 80s Hair Metal cover band!!! .

How long on instrument: 40 years. You would think I would be a lot better than I am. Maybe I should have practiced more instead of chasing skirts!!! I didn't learn to play because I heard the calling. I didn't have no game so I did it for the nookie!!.

Equipment: Well I am as big a guitar whore as Mr. Metal here but I love Les Pauls. I have several. I love Strats too and really enjoy building them. But I would say my Washburn PXS20 Parallaxe Super Strat is my Favorite. I just picked up an Ibanez Iceman and a Dean Dime o flame. And for me the Holy Grail Gibson Les Paul Gold Top. I've been wanting one for 25 years!! Amps.Well I have been a lightning rod in that realm. Don't use them anymore. The Fractal Axe FX has changed the game. I still love me some tube amps but I'm tired of lugging that stuff around! I'm using the Fractal FM3 with a Hotone Ampero as a backup.

Influences: Probably the same as a lot of others but it all started with Ace Frehley! Eddie Van Halen, George Lynch and Steve Vai. I'm really digging on Guthrie Govan and John Petrucci at the moment.

My first gig: Columbus / Fort Benning Georgia. Spencer High School talent show. Man does that bring back some awesome memories!! .

Hobbies: Muscle cars and Motorcycles. Currently I have a 1980 Camaro Z28. Yes I play White Snake when I drive it. Growing my hair out again so I when I wear a baseball cap it looks like I have a mullet!!! My wife and I are also restoring a 65 Mustang. Currently riding a Kawasaki Nomad 1600!!.

Favorite movies: I love the Jurassic Park and the Underworld series. Good Fellas, Shawshank, Hateful 8. .

Favorite food: Sushi. Man I can put that stuff away!!.

Favorite place: I suppose Disney World. The Mouse is a pimp though. He makes sure he gets his cut!!

Favorite sports or team: UofL, Indy Colts.

What I'm listening to nowadays: Lots of Dream Theater. But at work I like to listen to books, Westerns are my favorite.

Coolest thing I've done: I was going to talk about some stupid shit I've done but at 55 I am more embarrassed by it now. Hell my kids already think I'm a weirdo. Better not confirm their suspicions. But as sappy as it sounds it really is just being a father to my 3 daughters. That is more rewarding than any stage, gig, show I could be a part of. I have enjoyed my musician life but those girls are whats important.

Most embarrassing moment: Assuming someone was pregnant. Man you only make that mistake once lol!!!.

Bad Habits: Waiting till the last minute to stop for gas. That has bit me in the ass more times than I care to admit!.

What was your first concert ever: .38 Special opening for Molly Hatchet in Georgia.

If you could meet a Rockstar ( past or present ), who would it be, and why: Elvis Presley. The King. That man was part of group that blazed the trail for all of us to follow. .

Who do you love: My family. I don't know what I would do without them. I take my wife for granted sometimes. She is the rock. I have to remind myself how lucky I am to have her. And she is the one who has to put up with my guitar whoring.
