Scott Ballenger

Name: Scott Ballenger

Age:49

Instrument:Drums

Band/Former Bands:Current-Two Pump Chump, your girlfriends favorite band!

Past-all in St. Louis. Ben Wah Bob, Dads Gone Mad, The Mike Matthews Project, many other bands that never saw a stage or were short lived and Channel Zero (originals).

How long on instrument: Thirty-five years with a few breaks here and there.

Equipment: Currently playing on a 6 pc. Crush E3 maple and PDP 6 pc. Concept maple kit, All Zildjian A's, Evans EC series heads, PDP rack and Pro-Mark 747 Neil Peart oak sticks.

Influences: John Bonham (of course), Alex Van Halen, Tommy Lee, 90's grunge rockers, Carmine Appice rudiments to rock (first book I learned when taking lessons), ZZ Top Eliminator (the first album that I could play along to in '83) and every drummer that I've ever seen live or heard that has planted some sort of seed in my brain. Way too many to list. My first gig: Rocking in a backyard party in high school! First paid gig: Bernard's Pub in downtown STL with Channel Zero.

Hobbies: Besides playing music, golfing, hunting, fishing, drinking beer, watching live music, sports, being sarcastic and building or fixing things. Oh, I forgot, chasing my wife up the stairs trying to goose her! Favorite movies: Caddyshack, Slapshot, Goodfellas, The Blues Brothers, again where do you stop with this one?

Favorite food: Who doesn't love a steak or a hot pan of Lasagna?

Favorite place: Punta Cana Dominican Republic, it's been truly amazing every time that I've been there, at least what I can remember! Hanging out with Family and friends entertaining at home too.

Favorite sports or team: St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Cardinals, KC Chiefs, can you tell I'm a St. Louis native yet?

What I'm listening to nowadays: Depends on the day, lately Def Leppard because of a project that I'm working on. On other days I'm a streaming guy, Van Halen radio, Shinedown radio, Stevie Ray Vaughn radio, Rockbar, Ozzie's boneyard, STP radio, Motown radio, where to stop man? I love them all!

Coolest thing I've done: One of the coolest was ziplining at Bootleg canyon by Lake Mead for my 40th B.D., seriously insane! I got to meet Danny Carey of Tool, cool musical moment.

Most embarrassing moment: Recently my kick pedal broke in the middle of a song at a gig, thank god I had the spare parts to fix it.

Bad Habits: Beer, procrastinating, thinking I should have a microphone and sing back-ups, my wife would say, F.O.M.O (fear of missing out) on a good time and damn it hurts now days!

What was your first concert ever: Van Halen 1984 tour

If you could meet a Rockstar (past or present), who would it be, and why: John Henry Bonham, the eternal bad ass! I'd have to ask for lessons if I could keep my wits about me.

Who do you love: My wife for putting up with me, my parents back home for listening to me make countless hours of terrible noise in the basement and my 100-year-old grandma.
