Justin Scott Spicer

Name: Justin Scott Spicer

Age: 41

Instrument:Lead guitar

Band/Former Bands :My current bands are Juke Joint Revival and Boozer. My former bands are Rust N’ Bones and Plague the Kid.

How long on instrument :I have played guitar for 28 years.

Equipment : I use a Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue amp. My guitar of choice is a 2017 American Professional Fender Stratocaster. I also play a 51 Airline and occasionally a Hard Luck Kings Firebird knockoff, along with numerous effects pedals.

Influences: My father is the number one influence in my life for turning me onto the Blues and old Rock N' Roll as a child. I remember listening to his Muddy Waters "King Bee" album and thinking "I"m not sure what this is, but I want to do this when I get big". Later in life I saw the local musicians such as Joe Long, Marty Gamble and my cousin Lanny McIntosh who frequently played the bars and taverns in our small town of Austin, Indiana. Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher, Howlin Wolf, Johnny Winter, AC/DC, Metallica, numerous other Classic Rock Bands of the 70's, and the Grunge bands of the 90's all contribute a small part to my playing style. Lastly, my stepbrother, Freddie Joe Barger who taught me how to play my first chord.

My first gig : A talent show in high school. Me and my buddy, Josh West, played two original songs.

Hobbies : Listening to music, fishing, good food, laughing, playing old school video games, watching movies.

Favorite movies : The Godfather movies, Scarface, pretty much any good Mob movie and documentaries.

Favorite food : BBQ

Favorite place : Gulf Shores, AL

Favorite sports or team : Boxing, MMA, Baseball. The Cubbies.

What I'm listening to nowadays : A lot of Stoner Rock like Kyuss, Earthless, Greenleaf and Moss Generator. Left Lane Cruiser and some singer/songwriters.

Coolest thing I've done : Bungee-jumping or hearing one my songs being played on the radio.

Most embarrassing moment : I was at a party and a girls' hair had caught on fire from a cigarette-back when Aquanet was cool. I wasn't thinking when I poured my glass of rum on her head to put out the flames….it didn't work.

Bad Habits : Smoking, quick-temper and not eating my vegetables. Lol.

What was your first concert ever : I saw AC/DC on the Razor's Edge tour at Deer Creek in the early ‘90's.

If you could meet a Rockstar ( past or present ), who would it be, and why : Lemmy Kilmister because he was known for going with his heart, sticking with his guns, never changing, being truly honest and humble.

Who do you love : All 4 of my parents, my in-laws, my family, my wife- Becky, my friends, and my cat Pepper- who was named after Pepper Keenan.
