News From the Pit
By Eddy Metal

What up slugs! I hope everyone had a great Halloween! Mine was good. I recently played a Halloween show, The LRS Deadmans Ball at Louisville Billiards (w/ Native Sons and Dirty Dollz and The Tyrants), after finally working up a full set, and it was a good ole time. Cool costumes, lots of friends, frosty beverages, and I got to play my own music! How could that not be fun?

We had a blast! I even did a little drankin\'. I finally took my ass across the river to see The Enchanted Forest (see review below) after the Harvest Homecoming in New Albany. That is one cool place! I also went to the Recbar! I also got out an unchecked out Louisville's Alice In Chains Tribute (see review below)for the first time. I even went to the Casino (people always try to get me to go), and I even fargin' won! I needed to get out and have some fun in my hometown! Life is a motherf**ker. I've dealt with some seriously stupid MF'ers lately. The clown who totaled my car, and some lowlife idiot at a gas station. I'm so tired of the way the world is right now! More Covid. More people being shitty with each other. I almost got in a fight at 5 a.m. in the morning at a gas station on my way to work recently. It takes a lot to get me worked up enough to scrap, but this POS did it in record time. It got nasty! I lost my cool and yelled loudly at this dude right to his face to "suck my d**k" in front of everyone in the store! Yeah, even a laid-back bastage like me loses his cool sometimes. I was ready to hospitalize this ridiculous m-fre! He didn't do shit. Psh! I'm kind and easygoing, but never ever take that as weakness. My family took Tae Kwon Do from a 5 degree Korean master when I was young, and I learned some valuable and ethical stuff from this brutal and somewhat sadistic extreme teacher. Yeah, if live to be 110 years old, I will never ever forget Master Suh. If you were lazy or didn't give it your all, he would do a three-inch chest punch on you that would send all the air in your body out of you! Dawg didn't play. He was strict! Once he punished me by putting me in with a little brown belt girl who was kicking my ass! Legs flying everywhere. He taught me stuff I've HAD to use many times in my life. He also taught me to walk away if possible, and only use the skills when absolutely necessary, and then, show no mercy. If that guy would've touched me, I would have kicked his innards out his back! My legs are strong AF. I'm glad it didn't come to blows though. I don't want to fight, or hurt ANYONE. But living where I do, the Churchill Downs area, sometimes you don't have a choice, its either you or them. And as proven over the years here, I will never submit to heroin dealers, thugs or people of low character. I shall fight to the death protecting my own, and innocents.

Yeah Covid is still bad, and still impacting our lives bigtime. A childhood friend'a twenty-year old son recently passed away from Covid. R.I.P.

More misery, pain, and disruption of life as we once knew it. The scene is still suffering bad as well, so that sucks, too. No resemblance to life as we knew it at all. And that, my loyal faithful readers, is one sad covid infested fact.

I am closer and closer to getting the vaccine shot. I think I may get it finally.

I have recently had another epiphany in life- and realized I have to let grudges, anger, hate and resentment go, and finally learn how to forgive, if I truly want peace within myself. I'm the type of MFer who will usually hold a grudge till perdition end, too! This is 'one of' the very last things that I have needed to change. Hatred and resentment definitely poison the soul, and it has to be purged from your life. I have come a very long way in the last five years in bettering myself as a human being, and I feel this is one of the final steps in my life evolution. I have had some messed up stuff go down in my life relationship-wise in the last five years. Stuff that would have broken a normal man forever. If I told you some of the stuff, you'd be like "dayyyuum, thats whack AF!" Sad but true. People are very hard to trust nowadays. Ethics and morals are rare. Yeah its been a bit rough, but I am not normal, I have overcame every letdown with great pride and dignity. I am proud of myself, and my friends are proud of me too. It feels pretty darn good.

But that's just how LIFE is. One continuous letdown after another. You never expect that the ones you love the most to be the ones who hurt you the most. What counts is finding the strength to pick yourself up, gather your self respect, do the right thing, and just keep swinging at those curveballs that Life throws you, whether financially, or romantically.

All of these experiences added up into one big giant pot eventually make you who you are though. It makes you grow with time, as a person. You wise up.

Most people anyway!

Things are going very well for me. I'm a super nerd now! I go to bed at 8 P.M. I don't: drink much, party much, play out that much, and I don't get laid much. Psych! On that last one, at least! I have more money than I've ever had in my life, I'm keeping the weight off and feeling great (I just spent a shitload on new, skinnier fall clothes), I got a new car, my job is going well, and I'm playing my music again. Shit, I'm rockin' it!! I shall focus my energies on family, work, my music (we have a show in December, and I need to write new riffs, bad), stacking cash and planning another trip out West hopefully. I love it out there.

I figure if anyone deserves a break – that would be me. I have earned it in blood, sweat and tears. Besides, a nice long vacation would give me time to work on the Forgiveness thing some.

Sometimes you just gotta get away to clear the mind! And its been a while since I've had a real vacation. I need to start planning.

And then after my trip- I shall tackle the Final Challenge in my life evolution. And that one lone tough-as-nails Topic is gonna be one hard MFer to crack! And no, I don't mean evil late night twinkie munching binges! I'm talking some serious shit!!

Until next month! See ya!

Heart & Lung Center for saving his life at LTL:

Wow. My favorite band of all time! And the guitarist almost lost his life here in my hometown at Louder than Life during their final song, when his aeorta burst and started spilling blood into his chest.

He almost lost his life a long, long way from his country of England. But the great folk here at Rudd Heart And Lung Center saved Ritchie's life! Well done! It was a miracle considering what he went through. "You saved my life, and my little girl saw me come home, and that means everything to me. So I thank them all from the bottom of my heart." That kinda got to me. Ritchie seems like one helluva dude. And how he managed to play that flawless ripper of a solo in "Painkiller" with an exploded Aeorta is beyond me. The world is so strange. Thank god Ritchie made it. And thanks for saving him UofL surgeons.

Tool coming again:

Yup, they are coming again. March 4, 2022 at The Yum! I think it might be sold out. I heard tickets were hundreds of dollars. F**k that! It's good that I get in free, because these prices are way too high for the ordinary person to be able to afford. While not a big Tool fan, I did go review/photograph them last time here, and it was a real good show. I had a balst and the Yum Staff was awesome! I did not agree with Maynard hiding behind a curtain for the whole show, but I guess its just thats dudes mystique. He is different though, I'll give him that! Very different, and he can sing, it's just not for me. I find him a bit whiny and nasally. But maybe I'm just weird (duh!!), because everyone else seems to love him (I'm anti-trend), so if you want to go, you better jump on it now, because if by some freak accident it hasn't sold out yet, it will soon! The guitar, bass, and sick drums are what made me like Tool. The band is sick though! Just don't try to sneak onstage like this poor fool did. Maynard apparently knows some Judo!

Steel Panther coming to Mercury Ballroom:

The bad boys return on December 8 for one night of raunchiness, the likes repulsed by women everywhere. Unless they are cool laid-back rocker chicks! Just my type! Don't miss these guys, they are fun AF, and outstanding musicians! Top notch! Here is a great little SP love song dedicated to women who love their man enough to swallow the seed.

Sebastian Bach coming to Mercury Ballroom on November 12:

Bas is coming! And he's gonna do the Slave To The Grind Album! This guy is a legend. What a phenome nal singer! I can't stress enough how good a singer this guy is. I've partied with him and Dime before, and he was super cool to me (even remembering me months later), me being just a lowly radio guy backstage at Black Sabbath/Pantera on a night long long ago. He was a decent dude. I still watch his old live performances of the late Eightiess. Unbelievable stuff. Those high notes he hit, with that range, and power? Impressive to say the least. Skid Row may still be touring with different talented singers throughout the years, but no one will ever be Sabastain bach. Skid Row knows this, and hates him for it. I opened for Skid Row and heard some shit that night. Yeah. I was there. I thought it was ridiculous for real. But the point is- go see him! He still has the goods! I saw him about four or five years ago at Trixie's and it was real good! I had a great time. It's worth it. Opening the Mercury show is Louisville's own Edgar Red, one of my favorite newer bands in Louisville right now! Killer stuff! They get the Eddy Metal two thumbs up. So be sure to come out early about 7 or 7:30 at the latest to see our local guys rip shit up! You won't be sorry.

Hairball Coming to Louisville:

This internationally touring tribute band is supposed to be one of the best in the world, so we will finally see what all the commotion is about! They are finally coming here, and I'll be reviewing/photographing the shit. This sounds like a lot of fun. And we get to see one of Hairball's newest members, Louisville native Dave Moody, in action doing some AC/DC. Congrats to Dave. What an accomplishment. I'll see all of you hair rockers there in full Eighties attire! Wyld Ryde will be opening the show, so be early ya bastages! Here is some footage of Dave Moody in action singing with Hairball."

Jackyl coming to Diamond Pub on November 17:

Live at Diamond Pub Concert Hall! Special guests are Wyld Ryde and Kentucky Ruckus. These redneck rockers always put on a fun show. Be early for our locals!

Blue Oyster Cult coming to Brown Theatre on Dec 4:

I have never seen this band before! Maybe it's time I should review them! Hmmnn. I like this song! And I'm a metalhead.

Native Sons on the Loose:

These guys are tearing it up, and representing Louisville, Kentucky well! Congrats to Native Sons for the great performance at Monsters On The Mountain in the Smoky Mountians! Here is some LIVE footage! Enjoy!

Musician Of The Month for October is guitarist Erin Flaherty of The Empty Arms Band:

Be sure to check out his feature this month!

Street Grubs And Hops Closes it's doors Forever:

This bummed me out a bit. I always had fun at this little place, and the food was outstanding. We have lost another good venue, with a good sound/atmosphere. I never got to play there either! Doody.

SWP changes name to Scars Of Judas, and releases EP:

The now disbanded SWP, has changed the name of the project to Scars Of Judas, and they have finally released the four new songs on an EP entitled "Heathen", that they recorded before the breakup. Sailor is a bad MFer so you know it's gonna be good. When I was in SWP, Sailor and I wrote this together. I wrote the clean guitar intro. I love this riff, and fits Sailor's song perfectly. Check out the other songs too, on all music platforms! Good stuff. Check it out.

The Sky Below change name to Sleep Aura, plan EP Release on November 19:

< Mid-October the band changed it's name to Sleep Aura. On the 19of November, the band will release their new four-song EP recorded with Jordan Haynes. Jordan is awesome, he recorded my band twice, so I know this will sound great! Be on the lookout for it on the 19th!

Untold Rellik releases "Pandemonic" Video:

Enjoy!
