Your humble editor has spent the last week on an excursion to the friendly, famous city of Sevilla, Spain, generally called Seville in the U.S. Consequently, I am behind on getting articles up on the website, indeed, even getting this one written. Here are some upcoming shows to keep you occupied in the meanwhile:

"Coheed And Cambria Coming To The Merc On October 6: Your feet will still probably be hurting from Louder Than Life, but suck it up buttercup, and git yo asses out to some more shows! Here's one for you hip, new age rockers. This odd band is not exactly my cup o' tea, but I respect what they have done. It will probably sell out too, so get those tickets A.S.A.P. if you wanna go for sure! The Mercury Ballroom's shows are usually packed, so don't wait and end up bummed like the poor fools I've seen outside the club begging for tickets the night of show. You don't wanna be that person! The 2016 version of the Garvin Gate Blue Festival is scheduled for October 7 and 8, at the corner of Oak and Garvin Place, with activities spread out down Garvin Place. Arguably one the finest - if not the finest - free festivals on Louisville's busy festival calendar, the festival organizers, with the assistance of the Kyana Blues Society, consistently book a high quality lineup. This year, the headliners are Karen Lovely on Friday and Mr. Sipp, the Mississippi Blues Child on Saturday. Also appearing for the first time is the Hector Anchondo Band; besides that, there is a set by Louisville White Lightning Curtis, a.k.a. Curtis Marlatt and band. Marlatt, of course, is well-known to Louisville blues fans, having fronted Curtis and the Kicks for many years in the city, before moving up north. The entire lineup is: The Tarnations, Southern Avenue, Tyrone Cotton Band, Laurie Jane And The 45s, Mr. Sipp, The Mississippi Blues Child, The Tarnations, Hector Anchondo Band, Laurie Jane And The 45s, Louisville White Lightning Curtis, The King Bees, Laurie Jane And The 45s and daMudcats, on two stages. Did I mention that it's FREE?

The Louisville Orchestra, conducted by Teddy Abrams, will present a performance of Mahler's Second - The 'Resurrection Symphony'  - in Whitney Hall at the Kentucky Center. Soloists include Celena Shafer, soprano and J Nai Bridges, mezzo-soprano. October 8, 8p.m. Tickets are $27 and up.

Oooowiee, getcher six piece boxes and snack crackers ready, Southern Culture On The Skids comes to Headliners on October 8. You'll hear all the favs, of course, including "Walk Like A Camel," "Voodoo Cadillac" and "Six Piece Box," plus tunes from all their albums, including the most recent, Dig This: Ditch Diggin' V.2.  Their live shows have gotten a bit rawer, but it's the times. Tickets are a mere $15.

You can see Christian rapper NF at the Mercury Ballroom on October 11, for only $20. He's touring in support of his latest, Therapy Session, released in April. That album peaked at #12 on the U.S. charts.

WHAT WOULD YOU say to an evening of choreographed violin pieces? Yeah, that's the ticket. No, really, that's what Lindsey Sterling does and she'll do it at the Louisville Palace on October 15. Okay, this seems not to be popular music but guess again. Lindsey has taken her classical training to a new and imaginative format. This one definitely looks like a must-see. Tickets are $29.50-$65.

Puckett, Bryan Foster, 35, died in Louisville on September 25, of complications from type I diabetes. He was the founder and CEO of Louisville-based Little Heart Records, which boasted a roster of over 30 bands from all over the United States in a myriad of genres.
